DHI Hair Transplantation

The DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) technique has sparked various debates in the field of hair transplantation. While some research supports considering DHI as a new hair transplantation method, other scientific sources view this approach more as a marketing strategy and argue that it is essentially a variation of the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) technique.

DHI can be described as a version of FUE that is combined with an implanter. In this method, individual hair follicles are extracted and then placed directly into the recipient area using a specialized implanter device. However, some critics claim that DHI is essentially a derivative of FUE and, therefore, does not truly represent a new technique.

As scientific and medical discussions on this matter continue, what matters for potential hair transplant candidates is determining which method is most suitable for their specific circumstances. Both techniques are valid methods used in the hair transplantation industry, but the preference for one over the other can vary based on an individual's hair structure, skin type, and aesthetic goals.

Stages

The DHI (Direct Hair Implantation) technique involves specific stages in the hair transplantation process. These stages utilize a specialized Cholimplanter pen for the careful placement of hair follicles. Here are the stages of the DHI technique:

  1. Follicle Extraction: The hair transplantation process typically begins with the extraction of hair follicles from the donor area. The FUE technique is commonly used in this step, where hair roots are carefully extracted one by one.

  2. Placement with Cholimplanter Pen: The Cholimplanter pen takes the extracted hair follicles one by one and places them. This step is the key to the hair transplantation process. Hair follicles are directly placed into the recipient area through the special tips of the pen.

  3. Assistant Process: Before using the Cholimplanter pen, assistants place the hair follicles into the pen. This is a stage that assists the expert doctor and contributes to the smooth execution of the procedure.

  4. Doctor's Implantation: The hair follicles placed by assistants are implanted by the expert doctor at specific angles and directions. This step is crucial to mimic the natural hairline and growth orientation.

  5. Implantation with Choi Needle: Hair roots placed in the Choi needle are inserted according to the predetermined angle and direction. Implantation is carried out with the pushing feature of the needle.

  6. Choi Pen and Tips: During the operation, 2 to 6 Choi pens can be used, and different sizes of Choi tips, ranging from 15 to 16, can be used. This choice depends on the thickness of the hair roots and the individual's hair structure.

Among the advantages of the DHI technique are minimal scarring, a fast recovery process, and a natural appearance. However, its disadvantages include longer operation times and higher costs. Therefore, a detailed consultation with expert doctors is crucial to determine the most suitable method for hair transplant candidates.
